5 Ways To Keep Your Hair Straight Overnight

1. Use Low Heat Settings When Drying Your Hair

One of the worst things you can do to your hair when drying it with a hairdryer is to do so at high temperature. Blowdrying your hair at a very high temperature will cause your hair to dry out extremely quickly. Not only that but dry hair is prone to frizz.

If you want to keep your hair straight overnight then I would say make sure you only do it at low temperatures. This may seem time consuming at first but in the long run, you will be better off having taken your time with it and getting it right.

2. Use A Heat Protectant

Never ever skip out on using heat protectant when straighting your hair. Heat protectant will protect your hair from heat and damage.

I recommend using a heat protectant that is silicon infused. My choice of heat protectant would be the Chi 44 Iron Thermal Guard. Although I would usually advise against using silicones in your hair, in this instance it is acceptable. Silicones coat your hair strands meaning that your hair is less likely to become damaged during the straightening process. Silicones can usually be washed out with water so weighing up the possibility of potential heat damage against a 1 off use of silicone, I would definitely opt for the heat protectant.

3. Wrap It

When you wrap your hair before bed you help your hair to stay straight. There is a particular art to wrapping your hair before bed. It can take a little getting used to at first but with a little practice, you will soon get the hang of it.

Wrapping your hair in this particular way allows your hair to lay flat without getting any kinks or bumps that would show in the morning.

4. Sleep With A Satin Headscarf

Satin is your best friend. Wearing a satin headscarf to bed will help your hair to have less friction.

Satin runs smoothly against your hair strands causing less tangling and knotting and therefore keeping your hair in good condition for the next day.`

You can pick up a satin headscarf from here.

5. Try To Stay Cool

Sweating when you have just straightened your hair is not good. The sweat will cause your hair to frizz and revert to its original curly state.

When you are ready to go to bed make sure that your room is not too hot. Set the temperature to a level that is comfortable but not so hot that you will sweat in your sleep.
