Hair Wax Colour For Natural Hair: 4 Reasons To Try It

Sharing is caring!

No matter how much you might love your natural hair there are times that we all get a little bored of our hair.

When you get bored a number of things can happen.  You can either decide to get a new hairstyle, a haircut or braid your hair. Those are the most common options.

For those of us that are not risk-averse, we might toy with the idea of using colour.

Colour can be a scary thing to use especially if you have previously experienced hair damage before.

Recently I came across a new product on the market called hair wax colour.

When I first heard about it I wasn’t sure what to make of it but its been around for a little while now and there have actually been some good reviews about it.

Let’s take a closer look at hair wax colour and why you might want to use it.

4 Good reasons to try hair wax colour on your natural hair

1. It’s much safer than natural hair dyes

Conventional hair dyes can be damaging for hair.  We have all heard countless stories about people who have tried to dye their hair only to find out they are now suffering from breakage to their hair.

It can be extremely deflating especially if you have spent a long time nurturing your hair to grow.

Even if you get your hair professionally coloured there is still a chance that you could suffer some ill effects.

Hair dye can also make your hair feel extremely dry as well.

Colour wax doesn’t have these same problems as it is only a tempory colour that can easily be washed off.

2. It gives you the chance to mix things up a bit

Colour wax is extremely appealing because it is much safer to use which means that whenever you feel the need to have a different look you can do so without being afraid of something going majorly wrong with it.

Colouring your hair can give you the fresh look that you are looking for.

There have been times when I have wanted something a little different and have been tempted to cut my hair but after years of growing it so long, I’ve never gone through with it.

In those times I have sometimes decided to braid my which is not really what I wanted.

Colouring my hair for a few days might actually have been a better solution rather than braiding as braiding take hours to do and after 2 weeks I’m usually incredibly bored of it and want my natural hair back.  Ever been there before?

3. Perfect for all hair textures

This hair wax colour can also be used on all hair textures which makes it extremely versatile.

No matter your hair type you can give it a try.

Another great thing about colour wax is that it can help your curls to clump as it is a wax material.  You may even find that it will elongate your curls as well due to the weight of the wax.

4. Easy to use

For me, this is the probably one of the biggest plus points of the hair colour wax.  It’s so easy to use and much less messy than conventional hair dye.

You may get a little bit of staining on your clothes when you are applying the wax but nowhere near as much as regular hair dye.

I have dyed my hair in the past and no matter how careful I was I always found stains of hair dye all over the place afterwards.

Colour wax is very simple to apply to your hair and can be done in a matter of minutes.

The hardest part is perhaps waiting for it to dry, which isn’t even really a problem if you are doing a wash and go.

How to use colour wax

Using the hair colour wax is really easy to apply.

Start by sectioning your hair into about 6-8 sections depending on the thickness of your hair.

Take the first section and apply your usual hair products to make sure your hair is well moisturised underneath the colour wax.

Be careful how much product you apply because you don’t know how the wax to react with your regular products.

Do this to each section of your hair before applying the wax.

Next, take the first section of hair and add some colour wax to your hands.

Rub the wax into your hands (this is fine to do as it is not a staining hair dye)

Run your hands down the length of your hair like praying hands.

You can add more wax if you want the colour to appear stronger.

Start small and then build on the colour if you need to.

If you are doing a twist out you can retwist each section and wait for it to dry before styling.

Does colour wax damage your hair?

Technically no it doesn’t as it is made using all-natural ingredients but that does not mean that it cannot dry out your hair or have any other side effects.

The wax is supposed to cause no damage and no stickiness to your hair.

How to remove it from your hair

The wax is really easy to wash out and shouldn’t cause you any problems.

Just wash your hair as you usually would.

Personally, I would be inclined to deep condition after washing it out to make sure my hair remains well moisturised.
