13 Clear Skin Tips To Help Boost Your Confidence

Sharing is caring!

We all want clear skin.  It’s the one thing that we all chase but it seems that some people seem to have better luck at it than others.

Is it pure luck or are they doing something that the rest of us are missing?

There’s no denying that some people naturally have better skin than others but that does not mean there is no hope for the rest of us.

I can tell you right now that there are probably a few things that you are doing that aren’t really helping your skin.

Let’s take a look at some clear skin tips to help us on our way.

10 tips for healthy clear skin

1. Wash your face

During the day your skin picks up a lot of dirt as you naturally walk down the street, come into contact with other people and go about your daily life.

It’s really gross so I won’t go into too much detail but let’s just say you should be washing your face as a habit before you go to bed at night.

This will allow your skin to breathe better and stay fresh.

You should also make sure to wash your face in the mornings too.  You may not want to hear this but you probably drooled whilst you were asleep last night and that drool is still on your face this morning. Eww!

2. Stop touching your face

Unless you consciously think about it you won’t realise how many times a day you actually touch your face.  Its a really bad habit to have.

The problem with touching your face is that you transfer bacteria and germs from your hands to your face without realising it.

Throughout the day we touch things without a second thought.  Handrails, telephones, money, and even other people.

There is bacteria EVERYWHERE, so when you touch these things and then touch your face you are simply transferring bacteria from one place to a very sensitive place, your face.

When bacteria sits on the skin it can cause it to break out and spots and rashes to develop.

Take care of your skin and try to keep your hands away from it as much as possible or at least until you can wash your hands first.

3. Be Gentle

Always be gentle with your skin.  Your face is a very sensitive place so be kind to it.

You should avoid harsh scrubbing especially if you already have a few spots as you could actually make them worse.

Try using a cleansing brush like this one instead which will be much more gentle on your skin and have the right desired effect.

4. Change your pillowcase regularly

Your pillowcase is the place where your face rests so make sure that it is clean.

I think its good measure to change it every week but see what works best for you.

Remember your pillow will be full of dead skin cells as well as sweat and other things too which won’t be a good thing for you to be lying on each night if you are serious about keeping your skin clear.

5. Go easy on the makeup

Yes, we all like makeup, some people like to wear it every day and that’s fine but make sure you give your skin time to breathe as well.

Let your face feel some air on it every now and again.  This will allow for your pores to get a chance to breathe.

If you don’t feel comfortable being outside without makeup on then use the days when you don’t have to be out to give your skin some time to air.

6. Please don’t pop

It’s natural that from time to time we get spots, we can’t fully avoid them, unfortunately.  Sometimes you can naturally get spots when you are menstruating and sometimes it happens for a reason.

The worst thing that you can do is to start popping spots.

In fact, it makes me cringe when I see people popping spots because nothing good comes from doing that. You will probably be doing more harm than good.

Popping spots can cause you to get an infection and spread it.

If you see a spot leave it alone!

7. Clean your brushes

Makeup brushes can get very dirty very quickly so you need to make sure that you are cleaning them regularly.

Depending on how often you wear makeup you should aim to wash them anywhere between 1 week to 1 month.  I don’t advise you go much longer than that.

8. Drink water

Drinking water solves a multitude of sins (ok maybe not quite so literally)

Drinking water is your best friend.  It cleanses you from the inside out.  After all your body is made up of 60% water!

Make sure you are drinking your 8 glasses of water each day and you will soon start to see a difference in your skin, hair and nails.  Triple bonus.

9. Eat healthily

Eating healthily is also going to earn you brownie points.

Whatever you put inside your body will surely show on the outside eventually.

Try to cut down on greasy foods and go for more vegetables and healthy meals instead.

10. Cut back on stress

Believe it or not, but stress can be a factor in causing breakouts on your face.

I know you can only control stress so far but try to let go of feelings of anger and things outside of your control as quickly as possible.

They are no good for you.

11. Try using rosewater

For some people, normal water is still too harsh for their skin.  If you are finding this to be a problem for you then try using rosewater instead.

Rosewater is a great alternative as it keeps your skins natural PH balance.

Best of all it works on all types of skin types no matter if it is oily or dry.

12. Get some sleep

Sleep is just one of those things that you just cannot get away from.  There are so many health benefits to it that you should always make sure that you get a good full nights sleep.

Have you noticed how refreshed you feel after a good nights sleep?

There is just no medicine out there that can replicate the benefits of sleep.

Get some good sleep each night and the reward will be evident in your skin.

13. Moisturise

I know everyone has very different skin types but you need to make sure that you take the time to moisturise properly.

Wash your face first and then moisturise.

Find the type of cream that works best for you and use it every day.

If you have very oily skin then you might want to stay away from anything too heavy.

It might take you a little bit of trial and error here.

Moisture helps to keep your skin’s elasticity and prevent your skin from ageing too quickly.
